Thrissur man sentenced to 13 years in jail for indecent exposure and threatening teenage girl

THRISSUR: A man accused of repeatedly exposing himself to a teenage girl and threatening to kill her if she does not give in to his desires has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment. The convict is Jayan (48), a native of Thrissur's Kuzhikkattussery. He used to regularly expose himself to the girl.

A complaint was lodged with the police after he threatened to kill the girl if she did not yield to his wishes. He used to follow the girl, harass and publicly threaten her.

The incident related to the case took place on March 19, 2023. He threatened the girl publicly on the roadside. The convict was arrested after conducting an investigation under the leadership of Aloor SHO Sibin.

The accused was sentenced to 13 years rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 85,000. If this amount is not paid, he will have to serve another ten months of imprisonment. The sentence was pronounced by Chalakudy Fast Track POCSO Court District Judge Donny Thomas Varghese. The court directed the District Legal Service Authority to provide adequate funds for the girl's rehabilitation.
