THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports said parents of Greeshma, who was awarded death sentence and jailed in Sharon murder case, visited her yesterday. Although her mother was seen crying several times after seeing her daughter, Greeshma was impassive. She is not like the other convicts and is bold, the jail officers said.

Greeshma believes that this death penalty will not end her life. She shared this stand to many. Earlier, people sentenced to death were kept in solitary confinement. However, since such people have the possibility of appealing to the Supreme Court and having their sentences commuted, they are now lodged in ordinary cells. Greeshma is being kept in the cell with five others. Three of them were convicted in a murder case and one is serving a sentence in a POCSO case.

All the considerations given to ordinary prisoners will be available to those sentenced to death in prison. However, they will be monitored more than others. They will not be granted bail or parole until the high court considers the case after the trial court. A two-member bench of the high court should examine the case.

Greeshma's bail was cancelled and sent back to jail after she was found guilty in the Sharon murder case. Since she has been convicted, she will now have to do prison work. Her work will be either in the canteen or where dolls and handicrafts are made or in the sewing unit. She will be assigned after knowing her interest.
