2.7 crore voters in Kerala for Lok Sabha elections; 2.88 lakh youth voters; names can be added before election

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More than 2.7 crore people in Kerala will have the right to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The exact number is 2,70,99,326. When the voter list was updated by excluding deceased persons and adjusting votes in more than one place, there was a decrease of 3,75,867 voters. Meanwhile, there are 5,74,175 maiden voters. Among them, the number of young voters aged 18 and 19 is 2,88,533. When the electoral roll was updated last year, their number was 1,14,038.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjay M. Kaul said in a press conference that those who have reached the age of 18, who could not include their name in the final voter list, can submit their application even before the election. Booth-level officers will visit the houses in the coming days with the now published voter list. The CEO stated that the state is ready for elections at any moment. There are 25,177 polling stations across the state. Central Election Commission's proposal to set up more polling stations in flats etc. is not being implemented. Public buildings are available here for polling in such places.

Malappuram district has the highest number of voters (32,79,172)

District with the least voters is Wayanad (6,21,880)

Female voters more Malappuram (16,38,971)

Thiruvananthapuram has more transgender voters (60)

District with most non-resident voters: Kozhikode (34,909)

Card with chip for new voter

New voters will be issued chip-embedded cards with security features. 6.26 lakh cards have been sent to voters. 17.51 ​​lakh cards have been ordered. Applicants will also be able to correct the information on the card. It is also available to download from the Voters Portal and Voter Helpline App.

Vote from home

Indigent elderly and differently-abled people can vote from home this time as well.
