Actress denies suicide attempt, says took overdose of sleeping pills

KOCHI: The Malayalam film industry was rattled hearing the news that a young actress, a witness in the actress attack case, had attempted suicide. However, the actress in her statement to the police said that it was not a suicide attempt. She said that she took overdose of sleeping pills.

The actress was admitted in a private hospital in Kochi after consuming sleeping pills. She is out of danger and has been discharged from the hospital. The news that came in said postpartum depression was the reason for her suicide attempt.

Meantime, there were unconfirmed reports that the accounts of some of the witnesses who turned hostile would be examined to see if any major financial transactions had taken place. It was after this the actress attempted suicide. However, the crime branch officials said the actress' suicide attempt is not related to the latest revelations in the case.
