THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The arrest of Youth Congress leader Jithin taken into custody by the crime branch in the AKG centre attack case, has been recorded. He will be produced in the court soon. The investigating officers said they will file a plea seeking his custody. The crime branch found that it was Jithin who threw the explosive. However, the officials said the suspect is not saying anything about the scooter and what explosive was thrown. Jithin is being interrogated. Youth Congress worker Jithin, a native of Manvila, was taken into custody by the crime branch this morning.
The crime branch had earlier started an investigation focusing on Youth Congress workers. Based on this, the investigation was focused on the Youth Congress workers of Atipra, Menamkulam and Kazhakootam areas. His name was heard in the initial stage of the incident. Now the top officials are clarifying that he has been arrested on the basis of circumstantial evidence.
The car and T shirt seen in the visuals during the attack helped to trace him. After the attack, the scooter was found parked near the car. The crucial point in the case was that the car proved to belong to Jithin. The crime branch said that after the attack, Jithin reached Gowreesapattom and got into a car from here.
Moreover, his T shirt and shoes became important evidence. The accused was wearing this T shirt in the visuals. On investigation, it was found that Jithin bought the same brand of T-shirt and shoes. According to the investigation team, the T shirt seen in the CCTV footage is also on his Facebook post. Officials also clarified that the information from his phone has been deleted.
