THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has announced a revenue inquiry against Cardinal Mar George Alencherry. The inquiry has been announced as per the directions of the high court in the sensational land deal case. The revenue team, headed by the assistant commissioner of land revenue is in charge of the investigation.
The case is that the church incurred loss of lakhs by selling 60 cents of land in front of Bharat Mata College under the Angamaly Archdiocese of Ernakulam. However, Cardinal Alencherry informed the court that there was no irregularity in the sale of church land and that he had only implemented the decision of the curate. Apart from Alencherry, Fr Joshy Puthuva and mediator Saju Varghese are the other accused in the case.
