KOTTAYAM: Mystery surrounds the death of a young man and a woman in a house in Kanjirappally. Shirley Mathew (45), a native of Kallarbhagam in Idukki, and Job, a native of Alummood in Kottayam, were found dead at around 9 pm last night. The incident took place in a rented house in Koovappally. Shirley lived alone in this house.

The police released more information regarding the murder. Shirley was stabbed to death by Job in the neck. After confirming the death, he hanged himself. It is indicated that the duo had a dispute over a financial transaction. Job accused Shirley of having an affair with someone else. Shirley then filed a complaint against Job at the Kanjirappally police station. This triggered the youngster and led to the murder. Shirley's body was found in the bedroom, and Job's in the hall. The back door was left open. This is how the police entered.

Shirley started to live alone after her husband died six months ago. It is reported that the young man only visited her occasionally. Friends and relatives tried to contact Shirley by phone, but there was no response. The death was revealed during an investigation. The police reached the spot, and after conducting an inquest, the bodies were shifted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
