THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MV Govindan said the list of beneficiaries under the second phase of the Life Housing Scheme was in its final stages. The first draft will be released on June 10, he said. Beneficiaries will have the opportunity to appeal twice.
In the first phase, applicants from Grama Panchayats can appeal to the Block Panchayat Secretary and applicants from Municipal Corporations to the Municipal Secretary. The applicants can file appeals until June 14th. These appeals will be settled within ten days.
Those whose appeals have been rejected and those who have not filed appeals in the first instance can file appeals to the District Collector by June 30. The minister also directed that the appeals be disposed of by July 14. The draft list after both the appeals will be examined in the gram sabhas and ward councils. Ward councils have the power to exclude ineligible candidates from the list. The list prepared after excluding the ineligible applicants will be considered by the panchayat and municipal councils. The list will be approved by the governing bodies by August 10. The list of beneficiaries will be published on August 16.
