Muslim community is not something that anyone can attack, term 'love jihad' unfamiliar to Islam: Samastha

KOZHIKODE: Samastha on Sunday clarified that the Muslim community is not something that anyone can attack and that the term 'love jihad' is unfamiliar to Islam.

"Some people are spreading false propaganda without understanding Quran. Samastha works for religious harmony. The government intervened in such a way that it encouraged the bishop who made the controversial remark. This is wrong," Samastha president Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal said during the press conference.

"Those who speak in favour of terrorism should be isolated. The government's intervention in the narcotic jihad controversy has hurt a section. The remarks made in the handbook issued by the Thamarassery diocese are also incorrect. The term 'love jihad' is unfamiliar to Islam. Someone might be doing that but it has no religious backing. Community leaders should not respond in a way that destroys communal harmony," he added.
