THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has issued revised guidelines for culling wild boars. The guideline states that wild boars should not be killed by poison, explosives or electric shock. The order states that wild boar, which cause damage to life and property in populated areas, can be killed by appropriate means. Permission for this is given by the heads of local bodies. They will be appointed as honorary wildlife wardens and the secretaries of these institutions as authorized officers.
Action should be taken in areas where wild boar attack is severe. At the request of the public, the honorary wildlife warden and authorized officer may order the killing of the wild boar. Ensure that human life, property, pets and other wildlife are not harmed during the culling. The order also says that the body must be preserved scientifically.
