Three killed in car-pickup van collision at Kunnamangalam in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: Three people were killed in a tragic accident that happened early Monday morning at Kunnamangalam in the district. A car and a pickup van collided leading to the accident. Two passengers of the car and the driver of the pickup van are the three dead. The accident happened early this morning at 2 am. The helper of the driver in the pickup van sustained injuries. He has been admitted at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

The dead have been identified as Subikki (27) of Kozhikode Puthuppady Perumpally, Nihal (27) of Koduvally Vavad Irumoth Mandat House and Shameer (33) of Wayanad Marakkathodi Pozhuthana, the driver of the pickup van. The condition of Shafeeq (43) of Pozhuthana is serious.

The car heading towards Wayanad and the pickup van coming down the churam collided. Though the locals and the police conducted the rescue operations, the three lost their lives on the spot. The car was completely destroyed in the impact of the collision. The bodies have been shifted to Kozhikode Medical College for postmortem.
