CHERTHALA: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan on Tuesday said that it is a matter of pride that the LDF leaders admitted that they couldn't get the votes of the Ezhava community in the Lok Sabha elections. He was speaking after inaugurating SNDP's meeting at Ashwani Residency in Cherthala.
"A section tried to crucify me for openly speaking the truth that the wealth of the country is controlled by the minority. Muslims stood united to oppose Modi. Even the disciples of Kanthapuram, who favoured the Left, voted for the IUML candidate. The left faced setback in the election was that the government did not consider the problems of the common people. Forgetting the people and supporting the Palestinians also turned out to be a problem.
Some refugees are against the Yogam. There are people among us who will support different causes at the same time. I will face cases with courage. There should be unity among the office bearers. If rich people become office bearers, there is trouble. They should think why they are in charge," Natesan said.
President Dr MN Soman presided over the meeting. Vice President Thushar Vellappally gave the welcome speech. Devaswom Secretary Arayakandi Santhosh, Yogam Councilors P Sundaran, PT Manmadan, Baby Ram, Pachayil Sandeep, Ebin Ambadi, PK Prasannan, CM Babu and ES Sheeba spoke. The union presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, members of the board of directors of the meeting and office bearers of the parent organization participated in the event.
Will even give life to defend
In the resolution adopted by the meeting, it was said that Vellapally Natesan is the captain of the Ezhava community and the backward classes.
"He is a dedicated leader who does not hesitate to become a martyr for the community. He is constantly clashing with the power centres for the rights of the community. He has pointed out the neglect government and political parties have towards the backward communities including the Ezhavas. The backward communities including the Ezhavas and Thiyars are the ones who are excluded and left behind when the minorities get what they do not deserve. The reaction of some minority organization leaders and political party leaders is similar to that of the Travancore administration when the Ezhava memorial was submitted under the leadership of Dr Palpu.
The community will rally around the captain and defend with all its might against the attempts of hounding," the resolution said.
