KOCHI: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellapally Natesan told the media that the Left Front is likely to come to power in the state in the next assembly elections as well.
NDA gets more votes from UDF than Left Front. The Left Front will benefit from it. NDA is the lucky charm of the Left Front. Backwards and Scheduled Castes are the ones who nurtured the Left parties with their own blood. Forgetting them and appeasing the minority was reflected in the parliamentary elections. They will support the Left Front if the mistake is rectified. Although the welfare pension was increased, arrears were made. Maveli stores are empty. The left government did not understand the pain of the poor. I have not rejected the Pinarayi government and the CPM. Pointing out their lapses is my duty as Yogam General Secretary. Now there is a widespread attempt to portray me as anti-Muslim, anti-Gandhi and a liquor salesman. I am not anti-Muslim. Rahim Associates has been the auditors of SN Trust for 30 years. In the Calicut University Syndicate Election, SN Trust College representatives voted for MES College representatives and helped them win.
Ironically, some members of the renaissance committee resigned in protest against my statements against the government's appeasement of minorities. This drama is being played by those who have stood by me in things that are good for them. I am not one to say that the Chief Minister should change his style. All leaders have different styles.
My mission is to blanket SNDP Yogam in yellow and not in saffron, red or green. Yogam has members from all parties. Most of the office bearers and members are Left supporters. It is only hearsay that CPM will call their meeting at the branch level. Any party can call their supporters' meeting. There have been such attempts and setbacks in the past as well," Vellapally said.
Both fronts in 'Hanuman role'
SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellapally Natesan said that the left and right fronts in Kerala are like Hanuman in front of Sri Rama. He was inaugurating the program 'Aswattham - Ashatmayanam' organized by Yogam Kanayannoor Union at Palarivattam Kumaranashan Memorial Hall.
Both fronts are like servants of Muslim League and Kerala Congress. They are being given positions one after another on the strength of votebanks. None of the 9 Rajyasabha seats nominated by fronts were given to Backwards and Scheduled Category candidates. Five seats for Muslims and two for Christians. The double standards can be understood if we look at how many PSC memberships, vice chancellorships of 14 universities and various government corporations have been given to minorities.
Backward and Scheduled Tribes have not got equal justice till date. Vellapally Natesan said that only the backwards and the Scheduled Tribes are homeless or living on government land in Kerala.
Vellapally Natesan felicitated about 400 former branch office bearers who passed Shasthiyabdapurthi. 300 meritorious students were felicitated. Kanayannur Union Chairman Maharaja Sivanandan presided.
