KANNUR: CPM Central Committee member PK Sreemathy expressed satisfaction over the granting of bail to PP Divya, the first accused in the case related to the death of Naveen Babu. Sreemathy remarked that she had hoped for a favorable outcome this time, noting that Divya had already faced significant hardships during her time in custody over the past eleven days.

“This was an unfortunate accident, not an intentional incident,” Sreemathy commented, emphasizing that the party had assessed the damages involved and found no evidence of deliberate wrongdoing. She said that Divya, like anyone else, deserves fair treatment in the justice system and shouldn’t be denied her rights.

Sreemathy also pointed out that the courts have granted bail even in serious cases, emphasizing that this situation involved an unintentional error. She described Naveen Babu’s death as a tragic and unfortunate incident.

The Thalassery Principal Sessions Court issued its ruling following a detailed hearing on November 5. The same judge who had previously denied Divya’s anticipatory bail also presided over the bail decision, ultimately deciding in Divya’s favour. Divya is expected to be released from custody today.
