G Suresh Kumar, producer and an office-bearer of the Producers' Association, said that it was an inflated estimate that films had collected Rs 100 crore. He revealed that the producer of Pulimurugan, a movie which has earned the reputation of being the first 100 crore film in Malayalam, made a profit of close to 10 crores.

Suresh Kumar's words-

'100 crore collection means the movie has made a gross collection of Rs 100 crore. However, after 18 percent GST and 7 percent entertainment tax, the remaining amount is Rs 75 crore. Fifty percent of this is for theaters. The film gets a collection of Rs 37.5 crore. For Pulimurugan, the expense of the film is Rs 30 crore. Producer Tomichan Mulakupadam is said to have made a profit of Rs 7-10 crore. This is the state of what is called a 100 crore club movie'
