MALAPPURAM: Muslim League state general secretary in-charge P M A Salam said the RSS-Nehru statement of KPCC chief K Sudhakaran is against the history of the Congress. Salam blamed K Sudhakaran for his unacceptable statements.
Congress is a party that has not allied with the BJP. It is for this reason the Muslim League continues with the Congress. Such statements from the Congress are not seen lightly. Salam said such statements stain the history of Congress.
M K Muneer said that he has informed the UDF League’s dissatisfaction on Sudhakaran’s statement. This will be discussed in the League’s meet convened in Panakkad tomorrow. Sudhakaran had later retracted his statement saying his words were misconstrued and misinterpreted. The party leadership will decide whether to accept it or not. League leaving the front is an unfulfilled dream of the CPM and there is no need to leave, clarified Muneer.
The Congress high command also expressed their dissatisfaction over Sudhakaran's statement. It is reviewed that the statement will be used as a weapon by opponents. The Congress is also worried that the statements will backfire them nationally.
Sudhakaran's statement was that Nehru was ready to compromise with communal fascism by making RSS leader Shyamaprasad Mukherjee a minister. Sudhakaran made the remarks while addressing an event on children’s day in Kannur. Sudhakaran said making A K Gopalan the leader of the opposition shows Nehru's high sense of democracy and no other leader would have done this. He added that Nehru gave great importance to criticism. Sudhakaran's new remark comes after his statement that he had send congress activists to protect the branches of the RSS, stoked a controversy.
