Mother abandoned 15-year-old girl raped; young man gets 66-year jail term

ALAPPUZHA: A man got 66 years of rigorous imprisonment after he promised marriage to a 15-year-old girl only to assault her sexually. Nizamuddin aged 30 of Valikunnu house was found guilty in the case. Along with imprisonment, the guilty should also pay a fine of Rs 1.8 lakhs. The Haripad fast track court justice S Sajikumar pronounced the verdict.

The girl who was abandoned by her mother lived with her grandmother. Her father was long incarcerated in jail for some petty crimes. Nizamuddin found the vulnerability of the family to sexually assault the minor girl. 24 witness statements were heard in the case.
