THRISSUR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Thrissur today. He will be landing today afternoon at Kuttanallur helipad. BJP state president K Surendran and other leaders will welcome him. Earlier it was decided that he would land at the Lulu helipad, but it was shifted to Kuttanallur based on the warning that the ongoing road works would create security problems.
Amit Shah's one-day visit includes attending two BJP programs, offering floral tributes at Samadhi of Sakthan Thampuran and a visit to Vadakkunathan temple. Shah will visit Samadhi of Sakthan Thampuran at 2 pm along with BJP leaders and other prominent personalities from social and cultural fields. The BJP leadership meeting in Thrissur parliamentary constituency is at 3 pm.
In addition to Amit Shah, Prakash Javadekar, State President K Surendran, Union Minister V Muralidharan, MT Ramesh, George Kurian, Adv. P Sudhir, secretary M Ganesan and Suresh Gopi will attend the event. Amit Shah will inaugurate a public meeting at Thekkinkadu Maidan at 5 pm which will be attended by 50,000 people.
The program scheduled for March 5 was postponed to today. The arrangements of the event are organized by BJP leaders in the state.
Tight security
Tight security is being arranged due to Amit Shah's visit. Police have been deployed in various parts of the city since yesterday morning following the order of the Union Home Ministry.
Traffic restrictions
There is traffic restrictions n and around Thrissur city from 12 pm today till the end of the public meeting. Parking will not be allowed in Swaraj Round and south side of Thekkinkadu Maidan from morning. Parking is only allowed in places instructed by police. Private buses and KSRTC buses should operate as per police instructions.
