NEW DELHI: Food Safety Authority changed the order to print the Hindi word 'Dahi' on curd packets. The decision to replace the regional word for 'curd' with the Hindi word 'Dahi' was withdrawn following protests. The directive was also applicable to other milk products like butter and cheese apart from curd. The proposal was received with strong protests in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, which led to the withdrawal. It was informed that words in the regional languages of the respective states can be written along with 'curd'.
Earlier Chief Minister MK Stalin had come out against the proposal of the Food Safety Authority. Stalin had criticized through a tweet that hindi imposition has come to the extent of directing us to label even a curd packet in Hindi. He added that the decision is relegating Tamil & Kannada in their own states.
The unabashed insistences of #HindiImposition have come to the extent of directing us to label even a curd packet in Hindi, relegating Tamil & Kannada in our own states.

Such brazen disregard to our mother tongues will make sure those responsible are banished from South forever. https://t.co/6qvARicfUw pic.twitter.com/gw07ypyouV
