THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kozhikode train fire incident is going off-limits for the Kerala police. The arrested Sharuk Saifi’s connections from Delhi to Kerala need to be figured out and it is no menial task for Kerala police. After the incident, Sharuk boarded a train to Ajmer but got down at Kalambani in Maharashtra. The Kerala police need to find out the people he got acquainted with during the journey or else the case will fall with Saifi escaping the law barriers.

The investigation team met with the Chief Minister to emphasize to him the limits for Kerala police that are stymying the progress. The government thus will soon ask the center for an NIA takeover in the case.

Meanwhile, the Delhi police and the Maharashtra ATS fear a terrorist angle to the issue. At Kalambani railway station, the police doubt Saifi was pushed to the track by some stranger in a bid to kill. This is not something that comes under the purview of Kerala police so the government wants the NIA to take over the case for detailed investigation.

NIA from the very beginning expressed doubts about the crime being committed to avenging the Bhopal-Ujjain blast court verdict. The culprits of the case were given a death sentence by the court. All the arrested were found to have links with Islamic State. Oddly enough, all of them traveled to Kozhikode before planning to fire the train. Juxtaposing the two incidents, the NIA is leaving no doubts and will soon leap into it to find the hidden strings.
