MALAPPURAM: Muslim League is in a difficult position with the unexpected resignation of Samastha leaders from the Coordination of Islamic Colleges (CIC). Sadiq Ali Thangal, the state president of Muslim League is the chairman of CIC. Samastha is not ready for a discussion with CIC and will proceed with the Samastha National Education Council (SNEC), an alternative education scheme. The league leadership has decided not to make any public response immediately as Samastha has a huge vote bank.
Following the pressure of Samastha, the resignation of Hakeem Faizi Adrisheri from the post of General Secretary of CIC was accepted by Sadiq Ali Thangal the other day and Samastha General Secretary Prof. K Alikutty Musliar's son-in-law Habibullah Faizi was appointed as CIC General Secretary. The League through this would pacify Samastha but the situation worsened. This was followed by the resignation of the leaders.
Will the dispute reach court?
Along with the acceptance of SNEC, which was introduced by Samastha as an alternative to CIC, the campaign focused on Mueen Ali, son of ex-League president Panakkad Hyderali Thangal, has triggered the Muslim League. Mueen Ali and Sadiq Ali are not on good terms.
Sadiq Ali refused to accept the resignation of Hakeem Faizi at first and temporarily froze the decision. With the warnings ignored, Samastha went ahead with the SNEC project. Contrary to the League’s expectations, more colleges affiliated with SNEC. Colleges that have signed an affiliation agreement with CIC cannot unilaterally switch to another system. CIC has decided to support students or their parents if they approach the court stating that further studies will be interrupted.
