THRISSUR: More details have emerged in the death of Athira who was found dead inside the dark jungles of Thumburmuzhi in Thrissur. Ernakulam native Athira went missing 12 days back. Ending all drama, her close friend and love interest Akhil admitted to committing the murder.
Athira was an employee in a supermarket located in Angamaly. Akhil used to regularly supply fish here. Both of them were engaged in a relationship for six months and more. The relationship worked well through Instagram as Akhil had an active presence there. In this course of events, Akhil took 12 sovereigns of gold as help from Athira vowing to return after his business improves. Things were sailing smoothly between the two until Athira decided to ask back the gold from Akhil. At this point, Akhil was more or less not desolate to continue the relationship with Athira. The pestering for the gold has taken a toll on Akhil and he decided to end it all for good.
Akhil asked Athira to take leave on April 29th. He also asked her not to take mobile phone on that day. Athirapally was the chosen destination. On the return from the journey, Akhil turned the car to the dense green of Thumburmuzhi. After getting out of the car, Akhil lassoed Athira’s neck with a shawl. Later he covered her mouth and nose with his hands to ensure a fast death. After the confirmation, he dragged the body near the rocks and covered it with dried-up leaves.
Athira is a Bcom graduate. Her mother committed suicide years before. Her stepmother also died of cancer recently. Athira’s brother is currently in jail for illegal possession of marijuana. She lived with her two daughters, both currently in LP school.
Akhil meanwhile lived with his wife and two children. He has a massive social media presence and used to do reels in the name Akhiyettan on Instagram.
