Keralite living in Dubai for years arrested by Pak army; dies in Karachi jail

PALAKKAD: An information has been obtained that a Keralite had died inside a jail in Pakistan. The police got information that Zulfiqar (48) of Kappur, died in the Karachi jail. The union home ministry had directed the state home additional chief secretary to take steps to receive the dead body, which will be brought to Attara on the Punjab border today, and hand it over to the relatives.

The Kerala Police received the information of his death yesterday morning. The Pakistan army arrested Zulfiqar, a fisherman for allegedly violating the marine territorial demarcation treaty between Pakistan and India. He was then lodged in Karachi Jail. There is also information that agencies including the NIA had investigated about Zulfiqar, who was in Dubai for years.
