THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue Minister K Rajan has directed to strengthen anti-corruption measures in the Revenue Department. The minister's directive comes following the suspension of village field assistant V Suresh Kumar, who accumulated a wealth of Rs 1.5 crore by taking bribery. Those who have served continuously in the village offices for three consecutive years, including the village officers, will be transferred. Revenue Intelligence will be strengthened. A team consisting of Land Revenue Commissioner, Revenue Secretary and Minister will conduct a surprise inspection in each district every month.

The Minister gave directions to look into the legal ways of dismissing those accused in corruption cases in the Revenue Department. During the period of suspension, the employee will receive a fixed percentage of salary. If the employee joins the service after the suspension period, he/she will get arrears of salary in full. The Revenue Department is exploring the possibility of dismissing the culprits from the service after gathering strong evidence to avoid such a situation.
