Arikomban gets new family in Kothayar: TN forest department

arikomban

RAJAKUMARI: It has been four months since Arikomban, the lone tusker from the Chinnakanal region was translocated to the Kothayar forest in the Mundanthurai forest region of Tamil Nadu. According to the forest department, Arikomban is now part of a herd of ten wild elephants, including two calves.

The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has reduced the number of watchers deployed to monitor the tusker as it has adapted to the herd of elephants. The Kothayar forest range is in Agasthyarkoodam bordering Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department does not rule out the possibility of Arikomban coming down into the forest areas of Kerala from here.
