KOLLAM: Kollam Collectorate blast case accused smashed the windows of Kollam Principal Sessions Court. After the trial on the first day of the case, when the police were guarding the courthouse, they suddenly became violent and broke the window panes. Abbas Ali (32), Dawood Sulaiman (27), Karim Raja (27) and Shamsuddin (28), who are accused in the case and activists of the terrorist organization Base Movement, committed violence in the court verandah at around 3.30 pm yesterday.

The hearing of the witness in the case related to the explosion on June 15, 2016 started yesterday. The prosecution demanded that the accused, who were lodged in Andhra's Kadapa Jail, should be transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail as the trial was scheduled to continue. The court accepted the prosecution's request to produce the accused through video conference from the Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail as the massive security arrangements for bringing the accused are affecting other courts.

The security personnel were waiting with the accused in the court verandah to get a copy of the order to transfer the accused to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail. The accused created the problem by alleging that they were made to sit publicly in the court's verandah to introduce the witnesses who will be brought for trial in the coming days. Then they demanded to see the judge in person and smashed the window panes with handcuffs. Slogans were also raised. With this, the police forced them into a bus and took them toPoojappura Central Jail. Although the windows were broken, the accused were not injured. The West Police has registered a case against the accused for vandalizing public property and causing violence in the court premises.

Two witnesses were examined

The first and second witnesses in the case, Titus, who was the superintendent of the Kollam Labor Office, and Neerozhukil Sabu, the former vice president of Perayam Panchayat, were examined yesterday. Based on the initial information given by Titus, the police registered the blast case. Sabu's leg was injured in the blast. Today Advocate Clerk Sunil Kumar, Advocate Shaiju and another confidential witness will be examined. From today, the accused will be produced through video conference.
