THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kayamkulam MLA U. Prathibha reiterated that her son got caught up in a drug-related case by accident. She admitted that it was a mentally exhausting time for her. “There are all kinds of people in society. Out of ten, eight might be drug users or involved in black money dealings. How can we identify such people?” Prathibha asked while speaking on Kaumudy TV’s Straight Line.
"My son and his friends did not possess cannabis. The media exaggerated and sensationalized the issue. Perhaps he ended up in this situation because his mother is a politician. The only charge against him is that he smoked. The legal proceedings are still going on, but on social media, he has been subjected to extremely negative comments. When I spoke to the excise officials, they too admitted that my son got caught up in it by accident," she said.
"My son belongs to this generation. He is studying for a diploma in Bangalore. Growing his hair out and wearing baggy jeans are his personal choices. He grew up seeing his mother, but many people have misunderstood him," Prathibha added.
She also emphasized the need for large-scale campaigns to make Kerala drug-free and insisted that film stars, including superstars, should actively participate in these efforts.
