UDF to use controversial issues as weapon in assembly

kk

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF legislative party meeting decided to use the current controversial issues and public issues as weapons against the government in the Assembly session. The UDF will toughen its stance to put the government on the defensive.

The general opinion is that the myth controversy need not be ignited in the assembly for the time being. However, the matter will be kept active. Everyone who gets a chance to speak in the assembly will mention the myth controversy. The opposition will also demand an apology from Speaker AN Shamseer on the issue. However, no consensus was reached in introducing an adjournment motion in this regard. There is difficulty in seeking permission to introduce an adjournment motion as it is a matter related to the Speaker. Apart from this, some have also raised the opinion that if the issue is brought up in the Assembly, it may benefit the BJP. The general stand is to protect the interest of the NSS. Although the Muslim League took a favorable approach to the Congress stand, they were not very interested in discussing the myth issue further.

It was also decided in the meeting to take a strong stand on popular issues, including price hikes. The opposition will not be ready for a compromise if the Speaker and the ruling party continue to take the position they took in the last session. The opposition will intensify its protest if adjournment motion notices are not accepted.
