THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Main accused Greeshma has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the transfer of the trial to Kanyakumari in the case of the murder of her lover Sharon Raj from Parashala. In the petition, Greeshma has demanded that all the proceedings related to the case under the Neyyatinkara Court should be conducted in the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court of Kanyakumari. Greeshma's argument is that holding the trial in Kerala is against the previous Supreme Court judgments. Advocate Sriram Parakkat filed a petition in the Supreme Court on behalf of Greeshma.
High Court had granted conditional bail to Greeshma on the 25th. Justice CP Muhammad Niaz granted bail by pointing out that bail cannot be denied on the basis of public sentiments against the accused and that the accused cannot be punished without providing bail in the case where the trial is about to take place.
The main condition is a bond of one lakh rupees and two sureties of equal amount. She must appear without fail whenever the trial court summons the case. The present address and mobile number should be handed over to the court and the investigating officer.
On October 17, 2022, Greeshma called Sharon Raj to her house and gave him ayurvedic medicine called kashayam with insecticide mixed in it. The reason was that he refused to withdraw from the relationship. Sharon, who was critically ill, died on October 25 while undergoing treatment. Greeshma who was arrested has been in judicial custody since November 1.
Greeshma's mother Sindhu and uncle Nirmalakumaran Nair were also arrested for the crime of trying to destroy evidence. They were granted bail. Greeshma had stated in the bail application that she has cooperated with the investigation and there is no need to keep her in custody.
Greeshma, who was in Attakulangara Women's Jail, was shifted to Mavelikkara Special Sub Jail a few days before getting bail. The change was due to a problem with a fellow inmate.
