MALAPPURAM: There are widespread protests on CPM leader K Anil Kumar’s statement that women started removing their hijab is a sign that the CPM is growing in Kerala. Kerala Muslim Jamaat district committee demanded him to withdraw his speech insulting the Muslim girls of Malappuram and tender an apology. The district committee of Muslim Jamaat added that no one convinced of the progress achieved by the Muslim community including in the field of education will not say like this.

In the litmus programme conducted by Essence led by the anti-humanist ultra-liberal fascist campaigner Ravichandran at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram, the speech made publicly insulting the religious dress of Muslim girls in Malappuram and describing the glory of the Communist Party in removing the headscarf is a challenge to the Muslim community. The committee also demanded that the CPM be prepared to refute this and publicly correct it.

Samasta leader Abdu Samad Pookottoor also came forward against Anil Kumar. The notion that the progress of Malappuram is for removing the hijab is not correct. It is part of faith. Those who are not interested do not wear it. Abdu Samad Pookottoor also criticized that the foundation of communism is denial of religion.
