Liverpool humble Burnley to go top of premier league

liverpool

LONDON: Liverpool regained the top spot in the English Premier League after beating Burnley 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Turf Moor. Darwin Nunez scored the opener in the 6th minute with a well-timed shot from outside the box, giving the Reds a well-deserved goal. After this, the game saw both sides struggling to score but to no respite. It took Liverpool’s returning hero Diogo Jota to squeeze past a goal in a tight angle, that too in the 90th minute of the game. Liverpool played with a young team against a struggling Burnley and was commanding the game for the most part. However. Burnley had their chances but threw away their chances at positions where a small tap-in would have ensured a goal.

With this, Liverpool have 42 points from 19 matches. Arsenal have 40 points from 18 matches. The point table will again see a change if Arsenal eases past Wets Ham in Wednesday’s match at the Emirates.

In another match, Manchester United showed valour to make a comeback and defeat Aston Villa (3-2) after trailing for two goals in the first half. Alejandro Garnacho’s crucial two goals in the second half, and Rasmus Winther Højlund’s finish helped United get back to winning ways after their defeat against the Hammers. United is currently placed in the sixth spot.
