NEW DELHI: After the poor performance in the AFC Asian Cup, Indian football has suffered a huge setback in the rankings. India has dropped 15 places in the latest FIFA rankings. India, which was at 102nd place, slipped to the 117th position in the new ranking.

India was knocked out of the AFC Cup after losing all three matches in the group stage. India, which conceded a total of six goals in the tournament, was not able to score even a single goal against its opponents.

India's worst rank before this was in 2017. India was ranked 129th then. From there, India climbed step by step and reached 102. At one stage, India's ranking reached 99.

At the same time, Qatar, who won the Asian Cup, made huge gains in the ranking. Qatar has improved by 21 places and now ranks 37th. The runners-up, Jordan, improved 17 places to reach the 70th position.
