Hostelites went for film en masse on the day Siddharth died, signing punishment in college, more information surface

WAYANAD: The anti-ragging squad’s report released mentioned more information over the death of J S Siddharth, a second-year student of Pookode Veterinary College. The report said Siddharth suffered signing punishment in the college.

Siddharth’s classmate revealed that for eight months before his death, he used to go to college union president Arun's room to sign. He also said that Siddharth was given the same punishment like the accused going to the police station to sign. Arun is a student included in the accused list on Siddharth's death.

The report said the accused attacked him out of jealousy as Siddharth was popular in the college. The final report also stated that a girl was with the gang when they attacked Siddharth on top of the hill near the hostel. However, there is no evidence or testimony to prove this. Hence, it has been handed over to the police for further investigation.

Siddharth was found hanging on February 18th in the toilet of the hostel room. It was found that on the day of the incident, the students of the hostel went to Batheri and Kalpetta to watch films before noon. Those in the list of the accused are among this. An investigation is also underway to see if there is a conspiracy behind it.

The anti-ragging squad have taken the statements of 166 students of the college in the incident. Meantime, the security guard not coming to give statement and the hostel cook quitting his job after the attack towards Siddharth, raises suspicion. All the 20 accused arrested so far in connection with Siddharth's death have been remanded.
