Mannar murder: Kala was strangled to death using shawl, those in custody likely to be arrested soon

ALAPPUZHA: The police have confirmed that Kala, who went missing from Mannar, was murdered 15 years ago. It was Alappuzha district police chief Chaithra Theresa John who announced this. The murder took place in 2008-2009. Kala, who had eloped with a native of Palakkad, was brought back by her husband Anil after two days. She was strangled to death using a shawl while travelling by car from Ernakulam to Alappuzha.

The relatives of Kala's husband Anil are currently in police custody. It is said that they will be arrested soon. Anil is working in Israel. Police have started efforts to bring him to Kerala. Mannar police will register a new case for the murder. Kala's remains were discovered during the search carried out in the septic tank of the house in Iramathur, where Kala's body is believed to have been hidden. The police said that the mortal remains will be sent for examination. It needs to be confirmed that the mortal remains belonged to Kala.

Kala (20), a native of Mannar, went missing 15 years ago. The inspection was conducted by demolishing the septic tank in the compound of Anil's house. The investigation is being conducted after the police received information that the woman was killed and buried.
