Fought against physical disability; Danny to become college Assistant Professor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Danny T. George who has fought against a life full of hardships will be grabbing a job as a college Assistant Professor. He was born with no mobility below the waist. Danny's father, who was a police constable, suffered a stroke 15 years ago and became bedridden. A native of Powdikonam, this 32-year-old achieved his dream by studying tirelessly despite the hardships.

Danny T. George passed NET and JRF after PG in Tourism. He made it to the PSC rank list for the college teaching post and got an advice memo last month. Danny will become an Assistant Professor soon after receiving the appointment order. It will be clear in which college only when he gets the appointment order. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Kerala University with a focus on tourism.

As a child, he had to sit on the floor and drag himself to places because I didn't have money to buy a wheelchair. However, he completed his schooling with good marks. Danny studied BCom from Mar Ivanios College and PG in Tourism staying in a Hostel. A wheelchair was available there he but was not allowed to take it home.

Danny's father, George, and mother, Esther, tried their best to treat their son, but to no avail. Danny's younger brother Mathew, who works in the army, developed a kidney disease and they had to take out a loan to pay for his treatment. With that, Danny's Ph.D. studies were stopped last year.

Love to travel

Danny loves traveling and that's why he did his PG in Tourism. He is a fan of Santosh George Kulangara. Danny's travels became difficult when the free wheelchair provided by the municipality in 2019 and an old electric wheelchair donated by a kind soul broke down.
