Delhi High Court gives last chance to opposition, seeks clarification on naming alliance 'India'

india

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has given a last chance to the opposition parties to clarify their position in the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) questioning the naming of the opposition alliance as 'India'. They should respond within a week. The Division Bench presided over by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan has warned that the petition will be heard on April 10.

The petitioner is activist Girish Bhardwaj. The allegation in the petition is that the opposition is trying to create confusion that the contest is between NDA and India in the elections. The Election Commission has not expressed a specific stand on the use of the name 'India' by the opposition coalition.
