Domestic violence in Pantheerankavu; Rahul's two engagements cancelled due to misconduct, search for accused

KOZHIKODE: A search has been intensified for Rahul, who is on the run over the incident of brutally assaulting his newly wedded wife in Pantheerankavu. A case has been registered against him on the charges of murder attempt, dowry harassment, etc.

The girl's father told media that he does not expect a fair investigation from the Pantheerankavu police. ‘The case should be shifted to Ernakulam. We had a bitter experience when we went to lodge a complaint with the Pantheerankavu police. Despite filing a written complaint, the police did not take appropriate action.

Rahul is from Kottayam. It has been only four or five years since he started living in Kozhikode. When enquired about Rahul, no extra information was obtained and didn’t know that he was of this character. Went ahead with the proposal as we felt that his behaviour was good after talking to him.

Rahul was engaged twice before. The marriages were cancelled after they realized that he was a fraud. He has cheated many women. The police should investigate that too,' said the girl's father.

The girl’s family lodged a complaint with the chief minister, women’s commission and Ernakulam rural district police chief. The girl’s father had earlier said that in the beginning, the Pantheerankavu police were reluctant to register a case and they tried to compromise the issue.
