MUMBAI: The exit polls result that came yesterday hinted a third comfortable win for the Narendra Modi led NDA government in the country. The exit poll results predicted that the BJP-led NDA front which targeted 400 seats, would come to power with more than 350 seats. If the exit poll results turn right, the Modi government will be back to power. With this, business media reported that there will be a huge jump in three areas of the country.
The third Modi government is likely to give more importance to the development of railways, aviation and the highways. Along with this, there will be a boom in industrial sectors that invite huge investments. The Modi government has given great importance to the development of highways. The length of national highways had increased by 60 percent from 91,287 km in 2014 to 146,145 km by the end of 2023. Four-lane roads and national highways expanded from 18,387 km in 2014 to 46,179 km by the end of 2023.
Indian Railways is known as the lifeline of the country. Railways managed to carry around 5.85 billion passengers in the financial year of 2023. Also, massive modernization of railways across the country happened under the Modi government with the introduction of Vande Bharat, a semi-high-speed train. The country has also achieved great growth in the field of aviation. The sector also recorded growth as the modernization of airports and smaller cities also came on the aviation map.
Meantime, experts claimed that there will be a huge jump in these three sectors if the Modi government comes to power again. The exit poll results showed that the BJP will return to power with a massive vote of the Indian people. So, we expect infrastructure development to speed up, said people in the construction sector. They added that in the financial year of 2025, the government is expected to roll out mega projects in the highway sector with large private participation.
The leap of highway development at the beginning of the financial year 2025 was slow as the code of conduct prevailed. Reports are coming that the development is likely to accelerate from July. PNC Infatech MD Yogesh Kumar said that after the end of general elections, bidding and awarding activities will rise and a large number of projects are expected in the construction sector in 2025.
