IDUKKI: Complaint that a hotel owner was beaten up by a group who asked for a room in the hotel. The incident took place on Sunday in Udumbanchola, Idukki. The owner of Maria Hotel, Vavachan, who was assaulted, has now been admitted to a private hospital in Thodupuzha. The reason behind the assault on Vavachan by the gang was an altercation and dispute over beef curry six months ago.
The group arrived in their vehicle with deadly weapons and demanded a hotel room. After being told that there were no rooms available, the gang took out the deadly weapons kept in the vehicle and beat up Vavachan. Vavachan, who suffered head and ear injuries in the beating, was taken to Thodupuzha after first being taken to a hospital in Nedumkandam.
The current attack was sparked by an argument over beef curry exactly six months ago. On that day, the same group had reached Maria Hotel and had taken a room. At this time, the group caused problems by alleging that the beef curry they consumed from there had less number of beef pieces. They were kicked out of the hotel when the group got into an argument with some other people staying at the hotel and clashed with them.
It is alleged that the gang reached the hotel on Sunday night and created trouble on purpose due to the enmity following this incident. The Udumbanchola police have registered a case and started an investigation.
