Undercurrents turn villain again, navy rescues diver swept away during search operations

SHIRUR: The rescue operations to find Arjun of Kozhikode, who went missing along with the lorry in the landslide in Shirur, is progressing. The mission team is presently searching the fourth spot where the signal was received from Gangavali River. Local fishermen from Kundapura have also come for the search operations.

Eshwar Malpe, the leader of the group, dived into the river but returned due to the strong currents. Kalliaseri MLA M Vijin told media that during the search, Eshwar Malpe was swept away after the rope broke. The navy rescued him thrice. Malpe is talking with officials for further rescue operations.


Meantime, Uttara Kannada District Collector Lakshmipriya told media that it has been confirmed that a lorry is at the bottom of the Gangavali River. It is reported that the fourth signal found in the IBOD search is that of the lorry. The lorry is said to be covered in mud 132 meters from the shore.
