KCL: Calicut Globstars beat Thrissur by 38 runs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a thrilling match in the Kerala Cricket League, Calicut Globstars emerged victorious against Thrissur Titans with a margin of 38 runs. After winning the toss, Thrissur opted to field, sending Calicut to bat. However, due to persistent rain, Calicut's batting innings was interrupted and the match was temporarily suspended. Later, the match was rescheduled to a 19-over contest. Calicut managed to score 155 runs in the reduced overs, losing six wickets in the process.

Akhil Scaria (54) and Salman Nizar (53 not out) were the top scorers for Calicut, helping them cross the 150-run mark. Due to the rain interruption, the target for Thrissur was revised to 159 runs in 19 overs as per the VJD method.

Chasing a target of 159 runs, Thrissur got off to a disastrous start as they lost wickets in quick succession. Anas Naseer(4), Varun Nayanar (1), and Vishnu Vinod (13) were all dismissed before the team score reached the 25-run mark. Ahmed Imran and Akshay Manohar were the only ones among the top-order batsmen, who put up a bit of a fight, scoring 35 runs off 31 balls and 17 runs off 18 balls respectively. Thrissur Titans were eventually bundled out for 120 runs in 18.2 overs, resulting in a 38-run win for Calicut Globstars. Salman Nizar from Calicut Globstars was named the Player of the Match.
