MUMBAI: A court has slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 on e-commerce company Flipkart for delivering a substandard product to a customer. The Mumbai Consumer Court issued the order on the complaint filed by a woman named Taruna Rajput hailing from Goregaon. In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had received a substandard product from Flipkart and when she tried to return it, the company refused to accept it.

The court verdict stated that Flipkart's 'no return policy' is unjust. On October 9, Taruna had purchased 13 bottles of Herbalife Nutrition Fresh Energy Drink Mix from Flipkart for Rs 4,641, The products arrived at her home on October 14. Upon opening the package, she discovered that the products had expired.

The woman then tried to return them as they were of poor quality. However, Flipkart rejected the woman's request citing its 'no return policy'. Following this, the woman approached the Consumer Court. The court issued the verdict after examining the photographs of the product and the conversation with Flipkart's customer care.
