KOCHI: A court has disposed of the anticipatory bail plea filed by renowned YouTuber Nihad, known as 'Thoppi', in the case related to the discovery of drugs at his residence. The Ernakulam Sessions Court disposed of the bail plea after the police informed that there is currently no case against Nihad and five others.

The court had earlier directed the Palarivattom police to submit a report within December 4 on the anticipatory bail plea filed by Nihad and three of his female friends. Following this, the police informed the court that there was no case against Nihad and others.

Thoppi, a native of Thaliparamba, was apprehended on the 16th of last month from an apartment in Thammanam during a raid based on a tip-off, with chemical drugs in his possession. Thoppi and his friends approached the court for anticipatory bail on the assumption that they would be implicated in the case.

Recently, Thoppi had posted a video on his birthday saying that he was going through depression and that he was ending his social media life and identity as Thoppi.

"I’m leaving this character ‘Thoppi’ and is planning a return to be Nihad. It is better that I live a real life rather than face humiliation. My family turned their back on me. They hesitated to entertain me in the house. What is the point of all this fame and money if our family renounces us? There is no point if we face such repulsive faces from our family. ‘Thoppi’ died and now you will see Nihad. I don’t know if I can survive if I stop live streaming," he said.
