'Devasuram' is considered as a classic by many. The film, directed by late IV Sasi, still enjoys a steady following even after 26 years of its release. People still talk about the characters Mangalassery Neelakandan, Warrier, Mundakkal Shekaran and Bhanumathi played by Mohanlal, Innocent, Napolean and Revathi respectively.

Director Renjith, who wrote the script for Devasarum, recently shared an interesting experience while shooting a scene for the film. According to him, Napolean who played the main villain character was required to step on Mohanlal's chest. Renjith said, "Napolean hesitated to kick Mohanlal as Lal is a huge superstar. He informed me and Sasiyettan about his concern. Soon, Mohanlal went to Napolean and encouraged him to kick him by saying that it is just a part of their work. Later, Napolean did that scene so well that people still talk about the scene whenever they discuss about Devasuram."

Renjith also added that it was actually Mohanlal who introduced Napolean to him while they were looking for a tall, huge villain for the film. Renjith also shared that the love story between Neelakandan and Bhanumathi was based on the real love story between his friend Raju and wife Baby.
