THODUPUZHA: Kerala Congress (M) leader P J Joseph directed Joseph Kandathil to withdraw his nominations in the midst of a dispute over the party symbol. Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held today. Kandathil has been asked to withdraw his nominations after this.

Kandathil said that he will withdraw his nominations after scrutiny as Joseph had telephoned him and directed him to do so. He had clarified earlier that he will do so if Joseph asks him.

Kandathil was fielded as a move considered as a ploy by the Joseph faction to foil the attempts of Jose K Mani faction to secure the party symbol for Jose Tom without submitting a request before Joseph, party’s working chairman.

So far 28 nominations have been filed related to Pala by-polls.
