NEW DELHI: As the West Asian conflict enters its fifth week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a meeting with Chief Ministers to review measures related to fuel supply and the distribution of essential goods in the country. The meeting was conducted virtually. The meeting comes shortly after the Prime Minister warned that the ongoing crisis in West Asia could have long-term impacts on India.
During the discussion, the Prime Minister recalled the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasised the need for coordinated efforts between the central and state governments. He urged all state governments to make special arrangements to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities. He also highlighted the “Team India” spirit demonstrated during the pandemic and said the same collective approach is needed to guide the country through the current situation.
The Prime Minister had held regular virtual meetings with Chief Ministers during the COVID-19 period as well. The first such meeting was held on March 20, 2020, four days before the nationwide lockdown.
