Munnar landslide: Death toll is 14; 57 go missing; rescue work progressing

IDUKKI: The death toll in the massive landslides that happened at Rajamala Pettimudi in Munnar has reached 14. Twelve persons have been rescued while 57 are still missing. The search is going on for the missing persons, who are feared trapped under the mud and debris.

The calamity at Pettimudi plantation area was triggered by the avalanche that occurred at Rajamala region at around 2 am.

The outer world came to know about the incident only at around 6 am

As it is an interior, the rescue works got delayed.
