Harivarasanam Award presented to singer P Susheela

SANNIDHANAM: Singer P Susheela was conferred with Harivarasanam Award instituted by the state government. The award carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh and a citation. Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran presented the award to the singer at a function organised at Sannidhanam on the makarvilakku day. Devaswom president A Padma Kumar, Tamil actor Jayam Ravi and many others were present. Susheela reached Sannidhanam Monday morning to receive the award. She said that she was happy to receive the award. This award was presented to me by god. God gave me a chance to reach Sannidhanam and have a darshan of Lord Ayyappa. I am very happy as this is my first visit, she said. The award was given from 2012 onwards. K J Yesudas, Jayavijaya, P Jayachandran, S B Balasubramanyam, M G Sreekumar, Gangai Amaran and K S Chitra are the recipients of the award. Susheela was chosen for the award by a panel consisting of Justice Sirijagan, chief of Sabarimala high powered panel chief, devaswom commissioner N Vasu and devaswom principal secretary R Jyothi Lal.
