Highly venomous snakes guarding B vault of Padmanabha Swamy temple? Reports show the secret vault was opened long ago

THIRUVANNATHAPURAM: An expert committee report says that the secret B vault of Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple in which invaluable ornaments diamonds are said to have been stored, was opened long ago.

The royal family members and others connected to the temple have said that no one has opened the B vault. Moreover the belief among devotees is that highly venomous snakes are guarding the B vault, there is a tunnel from the vault to the Arabian sea and if the vault is opened, the sea water will gush forth.

But the expert committee found out that in the newspaper that came out in December 11, 1931, there was reports on opening of the B vault.

The expert committee has also collected the reports that the vault was opened in the presence of the king and under the supervision of Diwan and other top officers. Heavy iron doors were opened after hours-long attempt. Once this was opened, they saw another wooden door. When this too was opened, gold, copper coins and money were seen stacked in four alloy pots. After assessing the value of all the materials, they kept the materials back in their same places and came out.

The new papers including English dailies that came out during this period carried reports on this. The committee will apprise the Supreme Court of all the above facts. It will tell the court that the rumours revolving around the B vault are baseless and hence permission should be given to open the B vault for assessing the property inside it.

The Supreme Court will be considering the petition in this regard today.
