KASARGOD: The crime branch has issued another notice to BJP state chief K Surendran in Manjeswaram election bribery case. The notice has asked him to produce his mobile phone within a week for inspection.
The mobile phone is one of the crucial evidences in the case. Surendran had told the crime branch that he had lost it. However, the investigation team found that the phone is still in use.
The crime branch had questioned Surendran last Thursday. He was interrogated by a team led by DySP Sathish Kumar for nearly an hour. The investigation team said that all the important statements of Surendran were false.
The case is that BSP candidate K Sundara was threatened and bribed to withdraw his nomination papers. Sundara had earlier told the investigation team that he got Rs 2.5 lakh and a mobile phone worth Rs 15,000.
